START YOUR CAREER AS A SOFTWARE DEVELOPER

The Developer Academy are delighted to announce that we have been given the opportunity to provide fully funded 12 week Software Development Bootcamps for residents aged 18 or over who are unemployed, living in the Sheffield City Region.

In 12 weeks, you will learn the skills you need to become a junior software developer.

Not only that, but we will also provide you with careers advice, CV writing workshops and give you access to our internal jobs board, where you will be able to view and directly apply for junior software developer roles.

APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN

Applications are open for residents the Sheffield City Region who are aged 18 or over and are unemployed.  We will only consider applications from this area.

Transition from a beginner – with no prior coding experience – to a job-ready Software Developer in 12 weeks on our full-time, fully funded online course.

You will learn through 12 weeks of labs, real life exercises and projects. You will also get access to a range of career support services including industry placements and employment opportunities.

Our aim is to prepare you for the real world – what industry needs now and spend a lot of time asking companies what specific skills they look for and then design our curriculum to include learning activities that help you master each key skill.

In this course, we will cover:

To make sure the course is right for them, we ask potential students to complete some simple coding exercises on our platform before starting the bootcamp.

Students start with front end development learning about the DOM and how to make websites with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Bootstrap, a front-end framework.

Our students also learn about UX, peripheral technologies, TDD, OOP and testing front-end applications.

Students learn React and how to use Redux, Express and Node.js to run code for the back end, and focus on ways of dealing with asynchronous programming.

Students also learn APIs and Databases.

Phase 3 is where students learn technologies outside the curriculum, such as PHP, Laravel, AWS and Azure.

Students then work together on a final project of their choosing using Agile principles to get hands on with a real, green-field team project. There’s no better way to consolidate and extend your knowledge and prove what you can do.
